Achievement Auditions

The Achievement Auditions are 15 minute private auditions with an adjudicator. All students receive a written evaluation, certificate, ribbon and a rating.
Repertoire: Students are required to play technique and two (2) (Intermediate E through Advanced F) to three (3) (Elementary B through Intermediate D) memorized pieces from contrasting periods. Use the Achievement Auditions syllabus as your guide for choosing technique, repertoire, and for other specifics. The full syllabus can be reviewed at Luyben Music in Kansas City, or the Toon Shop in Overland Park. An abbreviated syllabus can either be obtained from Hemdah Salonimer-Horner or downloaded below.

Enrollment: Students age 7 to grade 12 are eligible to enter. The entry fee is $17.00 per student. No enrollment forms will be accepted after March 16, 2009. There will be no exceptions to this deadline. To enroll send a completed photocopy of the Achievement Auditions enrollment form/teacher work form and one check, payable to KCMTA, to Hemdah Salonimer-Horner.
Student rating and instruction sheets will be sent to you before auditions begin. Based on the number of students entered, you will be given a block of time. This information will be sent to you as soon as it becomes available.
Day of Event Guidelines:
- Each student must bring his or her rating sheet and instruction sheet.
- The student's music must have the measures numbered.
- The instruction sheet must have the teacher's name, as well as the audition location, time, and room number.
- Teachers will pick up their students' rating sheets at the end of the day, or after their last student has auditioned. (Please allow time for processing packets.)
