Christy Dolan Piano Scholarship Competition

Created in 2001 by donations from students, colleagues, and friends of Christy Dolan, the fund is administered by the Truman Heartland Foundation. An annual grant of $500 is presented to KCMTA to be awarded to young pianists selected by an adjudicated concerto competition. Tax-deductible donations are welcome and may be sent to: The Truman Heartland Foundation, 300 N Osage, Independence, MO 64050; checks made payable to The Christy Dolan Piano Scholarship.
Students will perform a movement from a piano concerto in a recital format. They will be evaluated by a professional adjudicator who has no connection to the students. They will receive a Certificate of Participation at the end of the event. The two winners will be contacted by phone within a week of the competition. Two winners will be awarded cash scholarship prizes.
Eligibility and Fees: Any KCMTA piano teacher may enter one student each year. Previous student winners of the cash award are ineligible. The 2006-2007 competition is for grades 1 through 8. Fee: $20.00. Send check and completed enrollment form to the chair.
Rules: Students will perform one full movement of a piano concerto by memory with piano accompaniment by an accompanist of their selection or digital piano diskette. Students must stay for the entire recital/competition or be disqualified. This program is open to the public. Current students of Christy Dolan are ineligible to enter.
